dc.description.abstract The Client/Family Centered Maternity care study is a systematic and a holistic obstetric nursing care rendered to a pregnant woman and her family throughout pregnancy, labor and puerperium so as to enhance quality health services and client satisfaction. The Client/Family Centered Maternity care study enables the student midwife to put into practice her acquired knowledge in the classroom and to identify client‘s problem and also to use new trends in midwifery such as the use of a partograph which is recommended and tested by the World Health Organization (WHO) in order to manage client well during pregnancy, labour and puerperium. The Client/Family Centered Maternity care study enables the student midwife to put into practice the Safe Motherhood initiative which has been adopted in order to help reduce the maternal mortality among pregnant women to improve the quality of health care through antenatal, labour and puerperium. Last but not the least, it helps the student midwife to gain knowledge in the changes that has brought about new management ideas and quality assurance in the various hospitals, clinics and maternity homes. Lastly, The Client/Family Centered Maternity care study is a required study that every final year student of Registered Midwifery program is supposed to undertake to satisfy the Nursing and Midwifery Council to help contribute to the award of Registered Midwifery Certificate.
