dc.description.abstract Despite being illegal, illicit use of psychoactive substances is extremely common in many societies, especially among young adults, with the typical motivation being to enjoy or benefit from the substance's psychoactive characteristics. The purpose of the study was to investigate drug use among the health workers at Holy Family Hospital, Berekum. A review of relevant literature has been completed. In order to elicit responses from study participants, a quantitative design was adopted. A convenience sampling technique was used to select participants for the study. A total of 50 participants were used for the study. Data was collected through the use of structured and semi structured questionnaires consisting of both closed ended and open-ended questions. Data was entered and analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences (version 22; SPSS) and results were presented in the form of frequencies and percentages. The study found that the vast majority of respondents were knowledgeable with the medications that health professionals frequently abuse. The Food and Drug Administration should ensure that each person purchasing tramadol has a valid prescription from a doctor, according to the study's recommendations. Additionally, local drug enforcement units should step up their efforts to lessen the preparation and distribution of various types of drugs that are frequently used by young people in the nation. The vast majority of respondents concluded that peer pressure, the availability of drugs, and the affordability of drugs are the main factors influencing drug addiction among health professionals
