| dc.description.abstract | Client and Family Centred Maternity Care Study is a holistic obstetric nursing care given to expectant mother and her family so as to improve effective health and client’s satisfaction. The care is given from pregnancy through labour to puerperium. This is based on the understanding of the woman as a special individual with physical, spiritual, psychological and socio-economic needs. It also helps to prepare the woman and her family psychologically in their welcoming of a new family member. This family centred maternity care study also gives a student midwife the necessary opportunity to put into practice her knowledge acquired during lectures which helps in the improvement of her skills and it also helps her to identify and manage effectively client’s problems during pregnancy, labour and puerperium. Finally, it helps the student midwife to gain knowledge in the changes that has brought about new management ideas and practices of audit and quality assurance in the various hospitals, clinics and maternity homes. It is done by every final year student of registered midwifery program to satisfy the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana for the award of licensing professional certificate in midwifery. | |
