dc.description.abstract The adoption of e-learning in various institutions is now the trend to the future of education especially in the higher education. The main aim of this study is to find out how the adoption of e-learning can help improve the academic performance of students of Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Berekum. The study has four set objectives; to find out the general knowledge on e-learning from students of Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Berekum, to examine the advantages of e-learning to students of HFNMTC, Berekum, to examine the disadvantages of e-learning to students of HFNMTC, Berekum and to recommend critical issues to be considered for the effective implementation of HFNMTC, Berekum e-learning system. Twenty-five (25) students were selected from each year group (4 year groups) resulting in a sample population of 100 respondents for the study. Primary data was gathered from the field of study (HFNMTC, Berekum) through a set of questionnaires. Data was obtained manually from the answered questionnaires with the help of Microsoft excel. The findings revealed that, students have enough knowledge on the e learning system. The study recommends that, learners and lecturer should have some basic Information and Communication Technology skills for an effective implementation of the e learning system. The study also recommends that, there should be effective internet connectivity in the e-learning environment. Also, the development of well secured e-learning portal or systems to prevent external manipulation was recommended.
