dc.description.abstract Patient/family care study is a detailed account of nursing care rendered to the client and family to meet their health needs. The study is carried out to enable the student nurse put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired from the three-year training period in school to ascertain how best the theoretical knowledge could be used to nurse patient who will come under his/her care. The study enables the student nurse to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired from the various courses in medical, surgical, public health, and paediatric nursing to give effective nursing care to client, with reference to his/her condition. It also helps the student nurse to acquire more knowledge and insight about a specific disease condition. This forms part of the final assessment of the student nurse at the end of the three-year training programme before the award of a Registered General Nursing license by the Nursing and Midwifery’ Council of Ghana.
